Curio Cabinets / August 25, 2018 / Jeanne Goulet.
Other times you can get newer models of curio cabinets that are relatively cheap but look like they should cost a small fortune. Obviously I prefer the latter. I want a cheap cabinet that looks like I spent a lot of money on it. Just because it is cheap does not I want it to fall apart. When I want something cheap I want something that is still durable and functional. Lower price does not equate to falling apart. I want something that will last and last and last. I do not think anyone wants to buy something that will fall apart no matter the cost. You can get curio cabinets at almost any retail store department store and often you can get lucky and find them at secondhand stores and rummage sales.
There are round ones large ones small ones and even tabletop cabinets that you can use. If you are looking for a large cabinet to hold all of your treasures in then you can find them as big as you need. When you want a smaller one you can also get one to fit on top of your table. Getting a lighted curio cabinet is always a neat idea. This will allow you to put a spotlight on your precious objects that you want to display. The light is plugged into a regular outlet from behind. This is a great feature that will defiantly enhance your goodies and let everyone know how special they are to you. A curio cabinet can also be specially made to fit your desired needs.
We all remember going in to our grandmothers house and seeing all her knick knacks and finest china displayed in them. Today the style is still favorable and the appeal to displaying precious knick knacks and keepsakes in a glass and wood shelving unit still desirable. Where to Find Them? You can find this furnishing in various places. The internet is a great place to find websites that offer furniture and different selections of styles and pieces. You can always try looking at local estate auctions flea markets or garage sales if you are looking for an antique curio cabinet with beveled glass and maybe even ornate claw feet.
Another idea to add interest to small curios in a large space would be to add books or interesting decorative boxes; that way you can display two different collections at once. If you are displaying some of your fine china take some cues from the department store displays; after all stacked plates is not very interesting especially when you cannot see the beautiful patterns. Show off the pattern to its best advantage. Use some of the serving pieces by adding some fresh flowers in your display for special occasions. Again mix your heights or levels for added interest and color. If you are displaying solid colored china add some colorful vases or crystal pieces that coordinate or contrast.
