Curio Cabinets / July 18, 2018 / Jeanne Goulet
These items can range from spoons to shot glasses to commemorative dinner plates. Regardless of which type of item is accrued by the traveler he or she can often proudly display it in their curio. This way whenever they walk past it they can be reminded of the fun times they had while traveling. The second type of item that can be stored in a curio cabinet is various pieces of sports memorabilia. In this case a baseball fan or a football fan can show off sports pieces (such as a signed baseball) that represent their favorite sports team. We actually know several rabid sports fans who have created very nice displays using a curio cabinet. The last type of item that you can display in these cabinets is personal items.
Other times you can get newer models of curio cabinets that are relatively cheap but look like they should cost a small fortune. Obviously I prefer the latter. I want a cheap cabinet that looks like I spent a lot of money on it. Just because it is cheap does not I want it to fall apart. When I want something cheap I want something that is still durable and functional. Lower price does not equate to falling apart. I want something that will last and last and last. I do not think anyone wants to buy something that will fall apart no matter the cost. You can get curio cabinets at almost any retail store department store and often you can get lucky and find them at secondhand stores and rummage sales.
Side windows mirrored back panels clocks and two way sliding doors are additional options many consumers choose. To help give you an idea of what items are most displayed in the small cabinets are shot glasses spoons ceramics porcelain bells photographs memorabilia and items that share a common theme. For mounting just fasten to the wall by a bracket strip which screws to the wall then the wall curio slips over the top of this bracket securing to the wall. You should avoid placing overly heavy items on the shelves this could compromise its strength and sturdiness on the wall. There is no special maintenance other then keeping it clean by dusting regularly and if applicable clean the glass.
